New students:  Please contact the Studio to meet with an instructor. He/She will call you or e-mail you within a few days to schedule your lessons and provide information about obtaining an instrument if you do not already have one. Instructors keep and maintain their own teaching schedules. Once you have scheduled your lessons, please contact your teacher directly.

Materials fees:  There is an additional fee for books, other materials and supplies. Materials fees are non-refundable. Some instructors will purchase the supplies for you and request reimbursement; others prefer to send you to a music store to purchase the materials yourself.

Parental involvement:  Parental support is crucial to the success of each student. A parent or older sibling who can assist the younger student in his/her daily practice sessions between lessons is required to  be at the lesson.

Lesson guidelines:  Please arrive 5 minutes early and be ready to play. Students need to have clean hands and short fingernails

Practice time guidelines:

Learning to play a musical instrument is a skill. To develop this skill, regular practice is required. It is better to practice in short, careful sessions. Students should have regular uninterrupted practice on a daily basis. Lessons are more enjoyable when continuous progress is made. Practice should be relative to the level of playing and the length of the weekly lesson:

Beginners       15-20 minutes daily practice  30 minute lesson

Grade 1-2       30      minutes daily practice  30 minute lesson

Grade 3-4       45      minutes daily practice  45 minute lesson

Grade 5 plus   60      minutes daily practice  60 minute lesson
